Tottenham Hotspur are likely to consider a move for Tariq Lamptey in the summer after failing to sign a new right wing-back during the January transfer window, according to a report from the London Evening Standard.
Spurs were kept incredibly busy on deadline day. Four players left the club, with Dele Alli joining Everton on a permanent deal. Meanwhile, Fabio Paratici managed to sign both Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur.
It remains to be seen how the squad gets on during the second-half of the campaign. But there are still some areas for concern in Antonio Conte’s squad.
And one of those is most definitely right wing-back. Of course, for much of the window, it appeared that Adama Traore was likely to join the club. However, he signed for Barcelona.
With Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty available to Conte, Tottenham fans will expect a new arrival at the end of the season.
And according to the London Evening Standard, Lamptey is one player Tottenham are likely to target.
Reports in January suggested that Conte wanted the £50 million-rated Brighton starlet. So it is little surprise that he looks set to remain on the radar.
Lamptey would be a fantastic addition for Tottenham
Lamptey looks absolutely perfect for Tottenham. He can play anywhere down the right flank. He boasts lightning pace. But he also offers real quality on the ball.
Certainly, he looks to offer a lot more than Royal. And at 21, there is every chance that he could improve considerably.
Graham Potter labelled him an ‘amazing‘ player. And the Seagulls will be braced for a lot of interest should he enjoy a solid run in the side.
Interestingly, Tottenham’s next game sees them host Brighton in the FA Cup. So there is every chance that his performance will be a talking point for those behind the scenes in North London.
