Newcastle United are having an extremely busy end to the transfer window and there’s no sign of things slowing down any time soon, given the amount of information already out there this morning.
The Mags are set to conclude deals for players such as Matt Targett and Dan Burne, while Hugo Ekitike is expected to fly over to England today to complete a move. However, one player who hasn’t quite got his move over the line is Manchester United midfielder, Jesse Lingard.
Things have become complicated with Lingard. United are thought to be asking for huge money and Newcastle backed away from the deal last week. However, things still haven’t gone silent when it comes to Lingard. And according to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie, a move for Lingard isn’t all dead just yet.
‘There still is an outside chance of Jesse Lingard coming here. We understand that the player would be keen on a move to Newcastle but the ball is very much in their court now, whether they can make room in the squad in terms of numbers, and do the deal financially,” Downie said live on Sky.
One Player Who Should REJECT Your Club
“It does feel this one might be a little bit late to push through. That’s why I say at least three. Lingard, not dead yet, there is potential of that one being resurrected.”
TBR’s View: Lingard The Icing On The Cake For Newcastle
This would cap things off nicely wouldn’t it? It’s been a fine window really for PIF in their first one and Newcastle fans can be happy with the business.
But landing Lingard is a different kettle of fish. He’s an almost guaranteed success. If the Man United man does end up on Tyneside come tonight, then it’s a huge coup from the club.
