Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to suggest that Al Nassr have withdrawn their offer for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and have walked away from talks with the Arsenal striker.
Aubameyang could be one Arsenal player who leaves the Emirates in the final hours of the January transfer window. Despite a lack of form, and eye-watering wages, he is attracting plenty of attention.
Al Nassr looked to be the first side to make a big play for Aubameyang. Reports claimed they had offered to take the 32-year-old on loan, covering his £250,000-a-week wages.
They were also prepared to agree a £6.5 million obligation to buy. However, Aubameyang was subsequently linked with a host of European sides. And he was not keen to move to Saudi Arabia.
Of course, Aubameyang moving to Saudi would probably suit Arsenal. It may not be the best look for the Gunners if he joins another top European league and thrives.
Unfortunately for Mikel Arteta, it would appear that one potential exit route has now been closed off. Romano has taken to Twitter to claim that Al Nassr have now taken their offer off the table…

Arsenal must consider Aubameyang u-turn if new striker doesn’t arrive before deadline
Arteta appears to have no plans for Aubameyang. The squad that travelled to Dubai this week did not include the Gabon international. And he has not played for the Gunners since early December.
It would be a boost to offload him. However, time is clearly running out. And Arsenal have not brought another striker to the club this month. In fact, they have offloaded another, with Folarin Balogun joining Middlesbrough on loan.
They do have other options. But should Aubameyang stick around, and no new forward arrive, Arteta simply has to consider a change of plans.
Aubameyang could be lethal if he rediscovers his best form. Arteta labelled him a ‘superb‘ player last year.
And if Arsenal are wary of letting him join a top European side, they clearly feel that he could still do a job.
