Celtic youngster Matt O’Riley has been praised by Hoops legend and BBC Sport pundit Pat Bonner.
The 21-year-old put in a superb display for Ange Postecoglou’s charges in their Old Firm clash with Rangers.
Celtic simply blew their Glasgow rivals away at Parkhead, running out 3-0 winners.
Reo Hatate edged the Bhoys into the lead after just five minutes, rifling an angled shot inside the post.
The 24-year-old then doubled Celtic’s advantage on 41 minutes.
He curled a neat effort past Allan McGregor from the right side of the penalty area.
Hatate then played a key part in Celtic’s third on the stroke of half time.
He looped over a cross from near the corner flag on the left and Liel Abada snuck in to slot home.
O’Riley, who joined Celtic from MK Dons in January, was also impressive on the night.
The midfielder made two key passes during the game and played a big role in moving the ball forward.
O’Riley looked confident in possession and worked hard throughout.
Bonner told BBC Sportsound (2/2/22, 21:11): “Matt O’Riley had been tracked by Celtic for a while.
“We can see why Ange Postecoglou was so impressed with his ability. He picks up very good positions.
“He is not quite up to full tempo but once he gets there, he will be a wonderful player. And he’s strong too.”
Celtic’s victory saw them leapfrog Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
