David Ornstein has been speaking on Sky Sports this morning and has said that Arsenal could be in line for a big summer in the market, with a striker set to the focus of all the club’s efforts again.
The Gunners failed in their attempts to land a big name striker in January. This, despite allowing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to leave. Further, Eddie Nketiah and Alex Lacazette are yet to agree new deals with the club either.
It means a big summer window awaits for Arsenal and Edu cannot afford to miss out again. And according to Ornstein, Arsenal fans can expect their club to go all out this summer to get that number nine through the door.
“They did try and get someone in. They explored the likes of Vlahovic, Alexander Isak, Dominic Calvert-Lewin is a player they also like. But I don’t think anything came particularly close,” Ornstein said.

“And they’ll channel all of their energies now into putting that right in the summer. I’ve got no doubt that at least one attacker will come in, because of course, Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette are out of contract and there’s no sign of them at the moment agreeing new deals.”
Arsenal will spend the rest of the season with just Lacazette and Nketiah as number nine options. Flo Balogun is out on loan with Middlesbrough, although Gabi Martinelli could be an option for Mikel Arteta.
TBR’s View: Arsenal Fans Now Expectant For Summer
The progress being made under Arteta is probably enough for Arsenal fans to afford both and Edu that bit more patience than some might get. However, the pressure is now on for the summer.
It is absolutely vital that the club gets one, if not two, strikers through the door. Money shouldn’t be an issue, and wages have been cleared at the club to make room as well.
Certainly, Arsenal fans are now entitled to expect action from the club this summer.
