Alasdair Gold has claimed in a video on his YouTube channel that Antonio Conte really likes Davinson Sanchez, and added that any Tottenham Hotspur fan hoping that he is sold in the near future may be set for disappointment.
Sanchez has had an interesting time at Tottenham. Spurs, of course, broke their club record when they brought the Colombian in in 2017. At times, he has been outstanding.
However, it is probably fair to say that he has never quite managed to live up to expectations given the fee he arrived for. And his display in the embarrassing Conference League defeat to Mura looked to be ominous. Certainly, you could understand if Tottenham fans felt that Sanchez may be done at that stage.
He was linked with a move away ahead of the January transfer window. However, he has stayed. And in truth, he has been a stalwart of the side throughout Conte’s tenure.

Sanchez has featured in all bar one of Conte’s Premier League games in charge of Tottenham. And he has been a regular fixture in the other competitions.
That may be largely down to injuries to other centre-backs. Both Cristian Romero and Eric Dier have been sidelined of late. But Gold insisted that Conte has been won over by the 25-year-old.
“He really likes Sanchez. If you’re not aware of this, Conte really likes him,” he told his YouTube channel.
“He keeps talking about how much he’s improved since he’s been there. So anyone that’s hoping for a Davinson Sanchez exit very soon, it’s probably not going to happen right now.”
Tottenham getting closer to putting together Conte’s best back three as Sanchez shines
Romero was outstanding on Saturday as Tottenham knocked Brighton out of the FA Cup. The performance was all the more impressive given that he has been sidelined for so long.
Once Dier returns, Conte may well feel that he has his best back three together. And Sanchez looks to be a part of that right now.
Tottenham supporters knew that there were likely to be some surprises regarding which players would thrive under Conte. Names such as Harry Winks and Dier were mentioned by many.
Perhaps Sanchez’s upturn in form will go under the radar.
