Celtic could still have some business to attend to on deadline day, with Sky reporting tonight that a loan bid has come in from Fortuna Sittard for Ismaila Soro.
According to Sky’s live transfer feed (20:59, 31/01/2021), Sittard have made a late move for Soro in the hope that Celtic will allow the midfielder to leave before 11pm. Celtic paid £2m for Soro a few seasons back but under Ange Postecoglou, he has fallen down the pecking order at Parkhead.
The Bhoys must now decide whether they wish to keep Soro around for the second half of the campaign, or let the midfielder leave to play regular football in Holland.
It’s claimed that Sittard have included an option to buy in their bid for Soro. However, Celtic are still wanting to recoup most of the money they paid for Soro, and as yet, there is no definite agreement.
WAYNE ROONEY TO EVERTON IS A JOKE.
Soro has made 42 appearances for Celtic, scoring just a single goal in that time.
TBR’s View: Time For Celtic To Let Soro Go
There’s little point in keeping the Ivory Coast man around if he isn’t going to be playing. Celtic can get some of his wages paid here and in the end, get a nice sum of cash in the summer.
Soro has had good periods with Celtic. But the club has moved forward under the new manager and this is simply a case of a player being left behind. A move, then, would suit all parties you feel.
