Aston Villa have been linked with Brighton’s Yves Bissouma in recent weeks.

And in the last few days, the Villans have apparently ramped up their interest in the Mali international.

The Telegraph’s live transfer blog (31/1; 10:31) claimed Villa were considering a deadline-day swoop for Bissouma.

Villa have been busy in the January transfer window both in terms of incomings and outgoings.

Watford Hiring Roy Hodgson Is A Joke.

Lucas Digne, Calum Chambers, Philippe Coutinho and Robin Olsen have all arrived at Villa Park.

And Matt Target, Anwar El Ghazi, Wesley, Keinan Davis, Jed Steer, Cameron Archer and Jaden Philocene-Brace have left on loan.

Admittedly, the Daily Mail did claim in the early afternoon that Villa had decided against pursuing a deadline-day deal for Bissouma.

This is after they reportedly saw a £25million offer rejected by Brighton.

However, transfer insider Dean Jones has just tipped Villa to nonetheless try their luck with a late move today.

“If it doesn’t happen now then a high chance it happens in the summer,” he told GiveMeSport.

“But I do expect them to press things in the next couple of hours just in case they can get him.”

“He’s going to be a top star”

Bissouma, now in the last 18 months of his Brighton contract, is one of the Premier League’s best midfielders.

The 25-year-old joined the south coast outfit in the summer of 2018 from Lille for a reported £15.2million.

Bissouma has made 111 competitive appearances to date for the Seagulls, and has won 18 caps for Mali.

According to The Athletic, Brighton value Bissouma at £50million.

“I think he’s got everything,” Ray Parlour told talkSPORT last year (23/9/21, 8:40am).

“He’s efficient, he can put his foot on the ball, can put his foot in as well, can pass.

“He’s the one who’s going to keep everything ticking over.

“I’m sure Brighton had to sell one of their players and it was Ben White in the end for £50million.

“But I think he’s going to be a top star.”
