Arsenal face a frantic deadline day if they want to bring in a new striker and according to reports from Spain, the Gunners haven’t quite given up hope of signing Alvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid.
The Spanish striker is currently on loan with Juventus but the signing of Dusan Vlahovic has pushed the former Chelsea man down the pecking order. There has been talk of Morata being sent back to Atleti, with a move to Tottenham, Arsenal, and Newcastle United all mentioned this week.
However, according to AS today, Arsenal are trying to secure Morata and have made a big move to try and sign the Spanish star. AS reports how Mikel Arteta’s assistant manager, Miguel Molina, has personally spoken to Morata about a move to London. He is said to have explained how Arteta sees him as a missing piece of his Arsenal jigsaw.
Arsenal’s interest, then, is very real it seems. But they will also need to hope Morata is convinced. AS adds that the Spaniard is inclined to stay in Turin for now. It could be more bad news for the Gunners then in their hunt for a new number nine.

TBR’s View: Morata A Good Stop Gap For Arsenal
Morata wasn’t exactly spectacular when he signed for Chelsea. He did ok in spells and scored a few goals, but never to the prolific level so many hoped. However, Arsenal do need a striker. And they need one quick.
The Spaniard does have quality. He’s scored 134 career goals at club level, which is not to be sniffed at. Equally, a certain Antonio Conte once called Morata a ‘fantastic’ striker while with Juve.
As a short-term option, this is a good move for Arsenal. But anything any longer-term would need serious question marks asking of the recruitment team.
