An open Letter to Gov Dapo Abiodun on the activities of the Interim Transport Union Committee in Ogun State

Excellency Sir,

Calvary greeting to you sir.

I found it very expedient to write this letter to you as a concerned citizen of Ogun State.

I don’t know if Your Excellency is following the activities of the Interim Transport Committee you set up some weeks back. If you aren’t doing so, then, I better let you know their activities.

The committee members led by Barrister Sunday Adeniyi are all out to dent your person as they hide under your name to perpetrate their dastardly act of extorting the various transport union leaders in the state.

The Committee Chairman, Barrister Adeniyi and Secretary, Hon. Akinosi are doing more damages as their dealings are in contrary to the terms of reference given the committee.

Governor Dapo Abiodun

The fact is, every Union or Association has its constitution and it’s clearly stated in the so called constitution the years and terms meant for executive members of the unions. This has not been followed by the Barrister Adeniyi led committee in their decisions.

The committee members have chosen to extort the union leaders by demanding for a huge sum of money and then took side by favouring the wrong people.

It is quite worrisome, too alarming for a favoured faction in the RTEAN in the State to go as far as depriving the unfavoured team of the right to manage and sell government revenue tickets and as well disallowed them to load as usual in their various garages and loading points. People were being maimed, brutalised and molested in the various garages. There are pictures evidence for this.

For the avoidance of doubt, Alhaji Ahmed Kuku was elected as Chairman, Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Ogun State Chapter, in year 2016 for a single term of 5years according to the constitution guiding the union. His tenure in office will end in the year 2021. Why will the committee then decide otherwise when they know they still have two years in the office. Clearly, the committee is giving the government that set it up, a bad image.

Excellency sir, please endeavour to carry out thorough investigation on the activities of the so called Transport Committee who are beginning to go beyond Terms of Reference by commercializing their activities.

The Government that wants to be seen to be operating within the ambit of the law should not allow its supposed agents to be working against same.

I submit.
