Glasgow Rangers were “abysmal” against Celtic in Wednesday night’s Old Firm derby, according to Ally McCoist.
The Ibrox outfit fell to a 3-0 defeat to the Hoops at Parkhead to slip to second in the Scottish Premiership table.
Worse still, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s charges were down and out after the first 45 minutes.
Rangers fell behind after just five minutes, Celtic’s Reo Hatate rifling an angled shot inside the post.
DROGBA DID WORSE THAN LUKAKU
The 24-year-old then grabbed his second against the Gers in the 41st minute.
Hatate curled an effort past Allan McGregor from the right side of the penalty area.
And on the stroke of half time, the Rangers defence was caught napping as Liel Abada made it three.
Hatate looped over a cross from near the corner flag on the left, and his teammate snuck in to prod home.
Van Bronckhorst made three changes at the break, replacing Amad Diallo, Glen Kamara and Borna Barisic
Fashion Sakala, Ryan Jack and Leon Balogun came on in their place.
Rangers did improve in the second half as Celtic took their foot off the gas, With Jack doing well.
However, the Ibrox side barely tested Joe Hart in a lacklustre showing at the home of their rivals.
“Rangers were abysmal tonight, especially in the first 45 minutes,” McCoist told Sky Sports (2/2/22, 21:42) at full time.
“They were slightly better in the second half when Ryan Jack came on.
“But that is a major wake-up call for Rangers. They were way off tonight and beaten by a far, far better side.”
After a 13-game unbeaten start, the defeat is Van Bronckhorst’s first as Rangers manager.
