Nigerian prodigy, Akinkunmi Amoo is convinced that FC Copenhagen is the right place to continue his development.
The midfielder completed a €4.5m record transfer to the Danish capital Club on Monday, after spending two successful seasons with Hammarby of Sweden.
Hammarby FC rejected several offers for the player, before accepting final bid from FC Copenhagen — which makes the player, the most expensive signing in the history of Scandinavian football.
For Amoo, the change from the Swedish to the Danish capital is an important step forward in his career, and one that he is looking forward to.
“I have had a fantastic time at Hammarby, and I have great respect for the club and the fans there,” says the teenager.
“They gave me the chance and believed in me and I will never forget that.
“Therefore, I am also very happy that the clubs have made an agreement that both parties are happy with. Ever since I heard about the possibility of coming to F.C. Copenhagen I have hoped that it could be done.
“FCK is an international club with ambitions to compete against the biggest teams in Europe, and I was really attracted to be part of these ambitions.” He said.
Amoo was involved in 15 goals in 23 matches for FC Hammarby last season.
